Bar #68

This is one of our first bars produced.  It is our only Teak bar ever made....and will be our last.  Teak is about 3-4 times the price of mahogany.  We used a decent B-grade teak.  This was produced when we were using more hand-made techniques and will lack some of our newer features.  This bar is the size that most of our competitor's sell.....we only made about 20 or so this size in the past.  We're not very fond of the size, but this does fit a condensed space.

The Bar Dimensions are:
                                        HEIGHT: 87"
                                        WIDTH: 80"
                                        DEPTH: 72"

The inside height from the floor to canopy is 79".  The canopy height is 8"....for an overall height of 87".  The interior walkthrough space from the front to the back section is ~32".

The bar does have a location for a LITTLE TAVERN AVANTI frig/wine unit in the front.

Why is this unit priced so much higher than a regular bar?  It's simply priced high because it is TEAK.  It's strictly because of the material used.  We back-warehoused this item for sometime and shipped all the sold bars.  Yet, this current container has some extra room, so we pulled it out and prepped it for shipping.

We decided to experiment and do a custom finish that isn't part of our standard selection.  Therefore, you cannot judge past shipments to this finish.  It's kinda a mix of historic Danbury Brown....but a little darker.  As always, this is a highly durable PU finish (10-step finish).

There is no North American wood stronger than Teak....not oak, maple, or hickory.  Yet, Teak is not King for that reason alone.....it is also weather resistant...with a high oil content.  You will find very few woods with the combined ability of weather resistance and strength.  This is real teakwood.  Not funny-wood teak like Nyotah or Bengre....that some claim to be teak.

This is a one-of-kind bar produced in early 2004....and finished (stained) in December 2006.

We installed a new wood top (with our new free floating tabletop system) and an outside drawer moulding.  The dovetail drawers are thinner at a little under 1/2".  The Italian drawer pulls are included - like all our bars.  Underneath Stained Glass is included in the price.

Price: $5300.

Could this bar be left outside?  Yes, it is possible.  The weather isn't going to tear this bar apart....although it will eat away at the finish over time.  Eventually, as time passes, this bar would look like the grey weathered teak you are used to seeing on benches.  I can't guarantee what the bar would look like as the transition from stain to unfinished happens.  It would likely last years - since the PU is also exterior resistant.  Yet, this is very dependant on your weather conditions.

We have used this finish before on some of our teak steamers.....not the brushed antique finish, but the same base finish and top coat.
