Although emails are slow, our internet traffic is at a 7-year high!!

This simply means you are window shopping, but finding it hard to pull the trigger. We’re going to whet your appetite with a $1 bar!!!

The last time we auctioned a bar was over 4 years ago. I think in our 7-year history, we have auctioned maybe 3-4 bars. The average price was 50%-80% of the actual retail price. This will be the first bar ever started at $1.

Honestly, I think this will be a fun 10-days.

 

 

 

 

Specifications : Bar #205 – mahogany wood, brown marble tabletop, trash unit, left wet copper sink, oil rubbed faucet, finished in Danbury Brown.

Start Date : November 1st, 2008, Saturday – 5pm - Eastern Standard Time
End Date :  November 10th, 2008, Monday – 5pm - Eastern Standard Time

Actual Retail Price :  $6597
Starting Auction Price :  $1.00

Fixed Shipping Cost :  $880 to any continental 48 state residential address.

If you wish to add a liftgate, then add $75.

 

 

 

Why are we doing this?
In the past, when we auctioned bars, it generally helped sell other bars. The downside is people think we will do this to all bars. Pay attention…..this will likely be the only bar we auction. We occasionally list buy-it-now bars on ebay, but at our normal website price.
 


We will see a Grand Devon or Second Empire sold at auction
No, not likely. If you ever saw a SE or GD up for auction, we would likely be closing our doors.
 


Why we made a fixed shipping price versus a normal quoted price?
We did this for several reasons. The first was you simply know the shipping price immediately. You don’t have to take the time to email for a quote before bidding. It’s there and you can calculate your final cost instantly!

 

If you are a CA, MO, or WA customer, then you should consider jumping at this chance. Some quotes have started exceeding $1200 to remote areas. We do reserve the right to alter the final shipping price if our actual costs exceed $1200. We’ll take it on the chin, but we’re not going to take it in the eye.

If you are outside the 48 states, you will need to email for a quote.
 


Is there anything wrong with Bar #205?
No. It is one of the rare, few bars we produced with the 3cm brown marble. Truthfully, there probably isn’t a more attractive marble out there!!
 


What do you think this bar will go for?
I have no idea?!?! I’ll likely cry and never auction another bar if it fetches less than 50%. Yet, I expect the final price to be somewhere in the 50%-80% range…..and there is that unlikely chance it goes for near the actual price – since this is a one-of-a-kind bar with particular specs.  In addition, we really put a solid effort into advertising this rare event.

Yet, I can promise everyone, there will be no games with this auction. I let the chips fall where they will….that’s my philosophy in life! Here is a great opportunity for several hopeful bidders to slug it out!!

 

I would suggest anyone really wanting the bar to be careful of sniping at the end of the auction.  This is why we have ended the auction at our peak daily traffic time.  Expect some last minute activity.

 

Sniping

I think we are all guilty of doing it and I wouldn't have my original Dr. No 007 poster if it wasn't for this practice.  I sniped this poster in the early years of ebay (maybe 1998) before they even had a name for the practice.  With 5-6 seconds left, I snagged the poster for about $300.  The early years of ebay were great, before the evil empire (Microsoft) took this youngling under their wing and taught it the ways of the dark side.
 


I didn’t win the auction, but I would like to order a bar with these specs!

Can I pick-up the bar?
Yes, but 6% KY sales tax applies and $100 loading fee.
 


When will this bar ship?
This bar is in-stock and ready to go. It must be paid within 3 days of the auction’s close. Payment can be either paypal or any credit card directly through us. The bar can ship on November 11th – but no later than November 20th. If you are not ready for the bar, either don’t bid or find some location to store it.
